About The Job Dudek is seeking an intern to join our planning and urban design group for the Spring / Summer of 2024, which works collaboratively with experts across all disciplines to provide a range of climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, and environmental justice planning documents. We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated, creative, and detail-oriented individuals. A successful candidate will enjoy working on a wide range of projects with a diverse group of specialists. Candidates should also possess strong inter-personal skills and should not be afraid to ask questions. Learn more about the projects you will have the opportunity to shape. Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below): Assist in the preparation of long-range planning documents, including Climate Action and Adaptation Plans, Emergency Management Plans, Environmental Justice Plans, Specific Plans, and Comprehensive Plans. Research applicable State laws, funding opportunities, and local ordinances Collect and interpret scientific, socio-economic, and public outreach data Assist in the coordination of public outreach events, including presentation of concepts and materials Assist in the preparation of maps and graphics using ArcGIS and the Adobe Suite Minimum Requirements Completed or currently pursuing Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning, or related field Working GIS knowledge, e.g. experience with ArcGIS, Urban Footprint, or other online mapping program Experience with graphic design knowledge in the Adobe Creative Suite Ability to collaboratively work in a team setting Excellent verbal communication skills Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills * As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check. Preferred Qualifications Experience participating in virtual and in person community engagement events Coursework in climate change and natural sciences Physical Requirements Working Conditions: This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc. This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting. This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time. Proposed Salary Range: $23 - $26 hourly* *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
