About the Job The Advanced Practice Immersion Program will begin in October 2024 offering ICU and Inpatient Medical/Surgical tracks. Immersion Fellows within the ICU track will have opportunities within PICU, CICU, Medical NICU, and Surgical NICU. Immersion Fellows within the Medical/Surgical track will have opportunities across our inpatient medical and surgical teams.Under the direction of a supervising physician, the APP Fellow - PA is a trainee. The APP Fellowship program is a 16 to 20 week program that provides mentoring, didactic teaching, simulation skills training, and experience to prepare the APP Fellow to become a competent Front Line Ordering Clinician. Throughout the program, the APP Fellow will become responsible for the direct care and follow up of a population of patients that match his/her skill set through the designated curriculum and timelines. The components of the role include education, clinical practice, consultation, and professional development.To learn more about the Center for Advanced Practice, please visit https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/center-advanced-practice What you will do Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Attending Physician and/or Front Line Ordering Clinician: 1. Participates in the APP Fellowship program educational curriculum. Completes post-tests and evaluations as a measure of competence. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. 2. As a part of the learning process, will utilize advanced assessment skills to support the management of a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. As a trainee, works collaboratively to communicate the plan of care and potential changes to this plan to the supervising physician and assigned Front Line Ordering Clinician. 3. Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice. Licenses and Certifications Certified Physician Assitant (PA-C) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - - Preferred Specialty Certification - Nursing - - Preferred Education Master's Degree Physician Assistant Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities. Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates.CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine.
