POSITION SUMMARY The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will provide peer support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to individuals with substance use disorder(s). These services will focus on working with substance use disorder clients in a vocational setting. Services will be provided to individuals as well as in group settings. Services and referrals will be provided within the service area of the Mid-Ohio Valley Substance Use Disorder Collaborative. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Knowledge and ability to provide linkage and referral for other services as appropriate. Plan and coordinate the range of supported services necessary for the Substance Use Disorder Clients (SUD Clients) including medical appointments, therapy sessions, court dates, and drug screens. Will be required to regularly meet with SUD Clients to offer one on one support. Willingness and ability to assist with skills assessment and training activities including vocational plans, coping methods, rehabilitation strategies, job skills, social skills, and behavioral issues. Must be willing and able to assist SUD clients with accommodation of work performance tasks. Willingness and ability to report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to relevant professionals. Ability to prepare assessment and progress reports as well as daily documentation and case notes regarding vocational rehabilitation and provide feedback to the SUD Clients' primary supports. Must have the knowledge and ability to assist with intervention to replace inappropriate work behaviors with appropriate work skills and behaviors. Must be willing and able to coordinate placement activities to include preparing and assisting individuals with job search, utilization of community resources, marketing, and consulting with employers. Must be willing and able to serve as an advocate for the SUD clients to protect their rights and to assist with reduction in associated stigma. Will be responsible for consistent communication with the SUD Clients' primary rehabilitation supports. Must be willing and able to work in an extremely busy environment requiring above-average organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure while accurately maintaining satisfactory progress and meeting established deadlines. Must be willing to work as part of a team. All other duties as assigned. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Overtime may be required but must be approved in advance by the Executive Director. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to transport client(s) offsite as needed. Use of private or company owned vehicle may be required on behalf of SW Resources, Inc. Must be able to successfully complete a CIB and Protective Services check at hire. Must be willing and able to obtain a clear drug screen at hire and as requested during employment. Involvement with substances is prohibited. Current certification in CPR and First Aid is required or the ability to attain within 30 days of hire. Must be willing and able to obtain appropriate certifications as required by federal and state funding sources (subject to change at any time). Will be required to participate in provider training at hire and ongoing. SUPERVISION This position supports assigned Substance Use Disorder Clients and the work of the Mid-Ohio Valley Substance Use Disorder Collaborative. POSITION LOCATION SW Resources main facility located at 1007 Mary Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Will also be required to assist with off-site support of Substance Use Disorder Clients as needed. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a non-exempt position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, alternative work hours may be assigned based on needs of the clients, including overtime, as necessary. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED A high school diploma or equivalent required. Must exhibit reading, writing and math levels equivalent of a high school graduate. Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist preferred. Life experience with substance use disorder, mental health conditions, and trauma with a minimum of six (6) months clean and/or sober required. Working toward WV or Ohio Certifications in Peer Recovery Support preferred. Excellent understanding of recovery resources such as the 12-step program and community support groups within the Wood County community required.
