Pediatrician opening in CTLocated in WaterburyHartford 30mFull-time; permanentSeeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatrician.Outpatient OnlyROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESClinicalProvides ongoing high quality primary care to children. Performs clinical procedures competently. Cares for acutely ill clients in in-patient or emergency room setting, as necessary. Examine children regularly to assess their growth and development. Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children. Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis. Advise patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians. Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments, as necessary. Plan and execute medical care programs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents. Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary. Provide consulting services to other physicians. Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness. Participates in an on call coverage system providing 24 hour care for clients as necessary. Maintains and documents the problem oriented medical record accurately after each client visit and monitors health maintenance checks of patient panel. Participates in other health care activities as agreed, e.g. school based clinic consultant, SNF care. AdministrativeMaintains board certification/licensure. Attends continuing education programs. Maintains involvement in professional organizations as necessary. Meets hospital medical staff requirements as necessary. Collaborate with operations manager and clerical/clinical staff to promote the smooth functioning of the medical component meeting clients health care needs. Supervises/collaborates with nurse practitioners as necessary. Prepare government or organizational reports of birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or medical status of individuals. Participates with Community Health Center management in developing and achieving optimal clinical performance and organizational goals for productivity and utilization. QUALIFICATIONSMD/DO from approved medical/osteopathy school. Graduate of an accredited residency program in pediatrics Board certified within 24 months of commencing employment. Maintains appropriate board certification, licensure, and professional organizations.
