WHO YOU ARE: A passionate leader with a strong background in payroll administration, compliance, processing and distribution. A positive mentor with experience directly leading small and/or large teams in the payroll/HR space. A visionary with the ability to execute projects and abide by strict timelines in order to accomplish organizational goals. Comfortable partnering with Senior leadership including the C-Suite executives in order to communicate, plan and carry out payroll-based initiatives for a rapidly growing organization. WHAT YOU WILL DO: As the Director of Payroll, you'll manage, direct and coordinate activities of the payroll function to ensure the preparation, processing, and distribution of accurate and timely paychecks to employees. Provide direction and leadership on all matters regarding the organization's payroll activities, including strategic and tactical planning. Provide the vision, strategic planning and coordination of payroll processes and systems to manage complex challenges while championing service excellence. Ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll payments, reporting, and compliance activities. Ensure ongoing quality control and auditing of system calculations. Responsible for all payroll and payroll tax related functions. Work closely with cross-functional departments and ensure best practices and delivery of administrative services including payroll and transaction processing according to state/federal regulations and contractual agreements. Manage and direct a team to handle all payroll requests and questions with a high degree of quality and customer service. KEY ACCOUNTABILITES: Oversee the payroll, time and attendance, and payroll compliance for payroll operations on multi-state payroll cycles. Oversee the compilation of payroll data such as hours worked, sales, taxes, insurance, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records. Manage leadership of payroll team, driving accountability and development through coaching to drive results and team success. Work with the Director of Financial Operations, HR and Finance Teams to define and establish scalable, agile and best-in-class payroll processes and operating model. Develop all payroll processes in alignment with strategic vision of management and system. Hire, motivate, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff (e.g., employee concerns/problems, directing work, training, evaluating performance, disciplining, working with employees to correct deficiencies, directing the implementation of new processes, rules, or regulations, promoting consistency and accuracy of work, etc.). Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to the Payroll department along with being the in-house technical "expert" relating to all payroll matters and compliance matters. Must stay current on regulatory changes impacting the payroll area, including industry specific regulations for healthcare and not-for-profit entities. Oversees the changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records. Create training and development opportunities for management related to payroll, timekeeping policies, procedures and system usage. Travel to business office sites as needed across the organization THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field. 7 years of payroll operation experience handling multi-state and high-volume payroll processing, including both exempt and non-exempt workforces. 5 years of management experience. Experience with tax filings for federal, state, and local agencies required. Healthcare experience highly desired, preferred. Current in the areas of compensation/wage structure, benefits administration, worker compensation, employment law, tax withholding, etc. Knowledge of state, federal and local laws and regulations pertaining to healthcare payroll. Experienced and current in the areas of compensation/wage structure, benefits administration, worker compensation, employment law, tax withholding, etc. Knowledge of state, federal and local laws and regulations pertaining to healthcare payroll. Possesses skill in providing exemplary customer service and conflict resolution.
