Job Description Job Title : Patient Services Representative Urgent Care Department : Patient Access Reports To : Patient Access Manager or Director Job Summary: The PSR is the first point of contact for patients and assists them with registration processes. Responsibilities include patient interviews, collecting and verifying demographic, insurance and financial data, and accurately entering information into computer. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, accurate typing skills, knowledge of office procedures, and ability to work independently required. Job Responsibilities: Greeting patients and caregivers on arrival in a welcoming and friendly manner. Properly identifying patients utilizing two identifiers, name and date of birth, and scanning copy of patient identification into database. Registering and pre-registering patients in database including collecting accurate demographic and insurance information, verifying insurance, and scanning copy of insurance card into database. Proper completion and explanation of all required registration forms. Proper filing of Imaging requisitions. Collection of copays as required, following cash drawer process. Flexibility in assuming other appropriate responsibilities and duties not noted above. Requirements: Education: High school degree plus two years clerical experience required. Experience: Previous healthcare experience and medical terminology preferred. Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. use of computer keyboard). May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds). Sitting or standing/walking for long periods of time.
