The candidate will be responsible for: Job Overview:Supervised by an intellectual property partnerDaily contact and guidance from all partners in the practice groupProtecting inventions with technical merit while assuming significant client responsibilitiesProviding high-quality legal services to domestic and foreign clients Duties:Preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark OfficePerforming prior art searches and analysisConducting patentability analysisEngaging in IP due diligenceDeveloping client relationships through practice development activitiesPreparing substantive client correspondenceInstructing local counsel for foreign filings and Office ActionsAssisting in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projectsAnalyzing scientific or technical documents for patentability, novelty, and inventivenessConverting prior provisional applications into utility applicationsConverting foreign filed applications into U.S. applicationsConverting U.S. applications into foreign applications Requirements:Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or eligible to sit for the USPTO patent agent examBachelor’s degree (or graduate degree) preferably in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering2+ years of experience prosecuting or examining patent applications in the electrical arts, with a focus on display and battery technology and optics Skills:Excellent writing and research abilitiesProficiency in written and verbal communicationStrong organizational skills Benefits offered:Total compensation package may include medical, financial, and other benefits (401(k), vacation, sick time, parental leave) depending on the position offered.
