Practice Area: Patent Agents - Biotechnology,Patent Agents - Cellular Technology,Patent Agents - Molecular Biology, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm located in San Diego is seeking a Patent Agent with expertise in Molecular Biology to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate will possess transferable skills, a strong academic background from nationally recognized schools, and prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in life sciences, particularly biotechnology, along with registration with the USPTO and an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines. Experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred. The role requires a degree in molecular biology and registration with the USPTO. Duties:Conducting patentability searches and analyzing prior artDrafting and prosecuting patent applications in the field of molecular biologyAdvising clients on patent strategy and portfolio managementConducting patent due diligence and providing opinions on patent validity and infringementParticipating in patent litigation and licensing negotiationsCollaborating with attorneys and clients to develop and implement patent strategies Requirements:2-5 years of experience in patent law, preferably in a large or mid-sized law firmStrong academic background from nationally recognized schoolsBackground in life sciences, particularly biotechnologyRegistration with the USPTOAdvanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences)Experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or related fieldAdvanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines Certifications:Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Skills:Proficiency in conducting patentability searches and analyzing prior artExcellent drafting and prosecution skills for patent applicationsStrong understanding of molecular biology concepts and technologiesAbility to advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio managementEffective communication and collaboration skillsExperience in patent litigation, opinions, licensing, and patent due diligence is a plus Benefits Offered:Comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan This Amlaw firm is best known for allowing its associates to find a balanced work load that best suites them.
