Practice Area: Patent Agents - Biotechnology,Patent Agents - Cellular Technology,Patent Agents - Molecular Biology, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm in Reston is seeking a Patent Agent specializing in Molecular Biology to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate should possess transferable skills, strong academic credentials from nationally recognized schools, and prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in life sciences, particularly biotechnology, and registration with the USPTO. An advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in molecular and cellular biology or related disciplines is preferred. Experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is also desirable. Duties:Conducting patentability searches and analyzing prior artDrafting and prosecuting patent applications in the field of molecular biologyProviding technical and legal support for patent litigation mattersConducting patent due diligence and assisting with patent portfolio managementAdvising clients on patent strategy and intellectual property mattersCollaborating with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies and solutionsProviding opinions on patentability, validity, and infringement Requirements:Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or related fieldRegistration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and/or related areasStrong academic background from nationally recognized schoolsExperience in a large or mid-sized law firm is preferredAdvanced degree, preferably a PhD, in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences)Background in life sciences, particularly biotechnology, is preferredExperience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or related fieldRegistration with the USPTO Certifications:Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Skills:Proficiency in molecular biology concepts and techniquesStrong understanding of patent law principles and regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to conduct thorough patent searches and analyze prior artAttention to detail and strong analytical skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking Benefits Offered:Comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan This Amlaw firm is best known for allowing its associates to find a balanced work load that best suites them.
