Practice Area: Patent Agents - Biotechnology,Patent Agents - Cellular Technology,Patent Agents - Molecular Biology, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm located in East Palo Alto is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in molecular biology to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate should possess transferable skills, a strong academic background from nationally recognized schools, and prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in life sciences, particularly biotechnology, and a PhD in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines. Registration with the USPTO is required, and litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademark experience are preferred. Duties:Conducting patentability searches and analyses in molecular biology and related fieldsDrafting and prosecuting patent applications in the biotechnology sectorAssisting attorneys in patent litigation matters related to molecular biologyProviding opinions and advice on patent issues, including infringement and validity analysesParticipating in patent licensing negotiations and agreementsConducting patent due diligence investigations for corporate transactionsConducting trademark searches and assisting with trademark prosecution, if necessary Requirements:Transferable skills and strong academic background from nationally recognized schools2-5 years of experience in a large or mid-sized law firmBackground in life sciences, particularly biotechnologyRegistration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)Advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences)Experience with patent litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred Education:Bachelor's or advanced degree in molecular biology or a related field Certifications:Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Skills:Proficiency in conducting patentability searches and analysesStrong drafting and prosecution skills for patent applicationsKnowledge of patent litigation procedures and strategiesAbility to provide clear and concise patent opinions and adviceExperience with patent licensing negotiations and agreementsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively Benefits Offered:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan This Amlaw firm is best known for allowing its associates to find a balanced work load that best suites them.
