Position Overview: The primary function of the Occupational Therapist is to perform evaluations, to plan, implement and modify treatment programs; to direct and supervise physical therapy services; to participate in discharge planning; to pursue professional growth; assist with educational duties and perform administrative and other duties as required. Must comply with all aspects of the Colorado Occupational Therapy Act in providing occupational therapy services. Essential Functions : Organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for hospital inpatients and/or outpatients. Follows practice act, state and federal laws and provides current licensure and certifications to hospital. Responsible for professional conduct, ethical practice, and professional growth and development. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the principles and practice of occupational therapy. Maintains current order and/or certified plan of care for treatment and completes appropriate and compliant documentation in a timely manner per departmental policies and procedures. Follow CMS and other insurance rules and regulations. Requests for insurance authorization in a timely manner. Completes annual competencies. Demonstrates knowledge in current treatment modalities and procedures and their safe usage and reports any unsafe condition. Diagnose and charge patient appropriately per CPT and ICD-10 definitions expectations. Assists with training and orientation of new staff, students and volunteers. Provides In-services and assisting in the education and training for students, self, peers. Promotes, participates and educates community (Health Fair etc.). Appropriately delegates, directs and supervises COTA's per professional license standards. Meets departmental attendance and scheduling standards. Request permission for overtime, change in schedule and time off. Demonstrates willingness to flex schedule in response to patient census. Reports to and leaves work at scheduled time, reporting these times via KRONOS with minimal errors. Attends meetings as required. Responsible for meeting department goals, individual productivity and time management. Participates and shares ideas on opportunities for process improvements, operations, problem solving, expansion of services, and reduction of expenses or improvement in the quality of services. Assists with marketing in accordance with MMH Mission, Vision, Values and strategic plan. Follows policies and procedures, HIPAA and Code of Conduct. Responsible for other duties as needed. Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Must be graduate of Occupational Therapy program accredited by the A.O.T.A. and prove successful completion of Occupational Therapy Registration Exam. Must hold current licensure by State of Colorado as an O.T.R. BLS Certification required. Job knowledge requires excellent interpersonal communication skills and understanding of management practices. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner. Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients. The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position requires a flexible work schedule with the need to travel to offsite clinics and regional partners.
