Position summary: This position reports directly to the Research Site Coordinator and supports the Breeding program with activities related to the development of new soybean lines and facilitating advancement of early generation soybean breeding populations. This position is also responsible for working closely with the Research Site Coordinator to support the generation advancement of Crosses and Plant Breeding populations for Winter Nursery. The ideal Nursery Supervisor is ambitious and excited about contributing to a rapidly growing company that strives to be one of the best suppliers of soybean genetics worldwide. They have strong communication skills, are highly organized, detail-oriented, and are proficient with data entry and analysis using electronic devices and data software handling. In addition, they possess strong leadership skills and can effectively train their direct reports as well as prioritize their team's daily tasks. The ideal Nursery Supervisor is flexible to change and possesses the agility to assess changes, formulate new plans, and carry out the required tasks to ensure the successful order to accomplishment of projects. If you have experience with the following, GDM encourages you to apply: Essential Functions Responsible for team job duties related to field tasks and conduct of the breeding nursery, including: Planting, field and plot maintenance, plant tissue sampling, tagging, crossing, harvest, seed storage, and identification. Responsible for Crossing Blocks, Nursery trial preparations, and data collection, including: Seed cleaning, treatment, packaging, and planting organization. Crossing Block design and Crosses coordination. Conduct and coordinate in season note-taking for agronomic traits, diseases, and response to stress. Assist with breeding program processes and activities to oversee the job duties of hourly Supervisors. This includes traveling offsite to research fields.   Support warehouse team in preparing seed for domestic and international shipments Work with proprietary software (PBS)   to create crossing blocks, nursery trials, inventories, and material advancements.   Qualifications Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Crop & Soil Sciences, or similar fields, or equivalent experience 2-3 years of experience in Agriculture. Experience with research machinery and equipment is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Phenotypic data collection and statistical data analysis Experience in a Seed Testing Laboratory or Plant Breeding program, including planting, growing, and harvesting small plot Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
