SUMMARY Provide comprehensive, community-based immediate crisis intervention response throughout Kalamazoo County for youth (up to age 18) and their families who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Services are offered following a strength-based, needs driven approach and are responsive, respectful and adaptive to the needs of youth and families in our community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities associated with this job will change from time to time in accordance with the agency's program and business needs. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform additional and/or different responsibilities from those described below. Immediate crisis intervention in multiple settings including home, schools, community organizations, hospitals. Clinical assessment of youth (including mental status exam, lethality/risk assessment, and diagnostic impressions) and Intake assessments for Integrated Services of Kalamazoo for SED youth services. Cover after-hours on call shifts as necessary to fill in monthly on call schedule Identification of youth/family strengths and coping skills. Family support and guidance in difficult situations. Maintain a working knowledge of current community resources and refer clients to community resources; assist in developing safety-crisis plans. Follow up services until consumers/families are linked with ongoing services. Works cooperatively with current service providers involved with families, and initiates collaborative efforts with community agencies to provide ongoing services for families. Conducting pre-admission screening for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, partial hospitalization, crisis residential, crisis respite, and emergency residential services for youth. Utilizes a variety of clinical interventions including best practice and evidence-based models. Empower youth and families to work through crisis situations in a safe and supportive manner. Provide accurate monitoring and documentation of all case related activities to fulfill program obligations and requirements. Maintain schedules in I-Carol system Pursue broadened professional development to enhance level of competency and meet training requirements of funder. Receive supervision that includes both regular and consistent meetings. Adhere to Agency and program philosophies, policies and procedures to assure consistent and ethical professional standards and required service outcomes. Ability to understand, demonstrate and apply the Agency's workplace values: Respect Integrity Service Empowerment Ability to regularly provide out-of-office services in unstructured, unpredictable situations This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support 1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices; 2) person-centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his/her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid individuals in their recovery process. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: MSW/MA in a mental health-related field from an accredited school. Specialized training and one year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Licensure as LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC or LPC in the State of MI. Full licensure preferred. Valid Michigan driver's license and driving record which complies with agency policy. Trained or ability to be trained in First Aid and CPR. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers or employees of the organization. Ability to understand and motivate people and an awareness of importance of cultural differences within service populations. Operate as a team player with excellent organizational and communication skills. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve problems within a broadened area of knowledge involving somewhat differing situations and specialized standards.
