Job Summary CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in mining engineering. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects and/or maintenance projects. Exposure to various plants, aggregate, ready-mix, and cement. Compensation $17.50/hr-$24.00/hr DOE Responsibilities Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace Additional work with reliability and project engineers Assist with mine development projects Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required Perform plant tasks as assigned Education Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering Requirements/Qualifications Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Preferably an understanding of drafting/AutoCAD Good attendance and punctual Ability to work a flexible schedule Ability to work independently and in a team setting Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles Preferred: Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing. #LI-MF1
