Lowell School, a progressive PK-8 school of approximately 340 students in NW Washington, DC, seeks an academic technologist to cultivate students' through technology and work collaboratively with faculty. The academic technologist will collaborate with teachers to implement technology integration and curriculum for faculty and students in 6th-8th grades, ensuring the alignment of the student technology experience across divisions and performing other duties as assigned. This is a 10-month (plus two weeks) full-time position reporting to the Director of Middle School. This role marries technology support with classroom instruction, and includes teaching digital arts classes. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented, knowledgeable, and innovative lifelong learner who is reflective about their practice, brings 'real life' into the classroom, and seeks out professional development and leadership opportunities. Qualifications: Master's degree in education or a related field 5-7 years of teaching experience Demonstrated understanding of technology integration Substantive experience in hardware and software support Familiarity with a 1:1 laptop program Responsibilities Teach digital citizenship, Google Classroom orientation, digital and communication arts, including news writing and production (print, audio, and video), yearbook planning, design and production, graphic design/illustration applications, 3D printing, Cricut, laser cutting, robotics, computer programming, engineering, etc. Provide instructional coaching to Middle School teachers through content-integrated technology support. Update and adjust curriculum to reflect the needs of the students. Serve as a liaison between the Middle School and IT and provide basic IT support for students. Serve as an advisor for a grade-level group of students. Lowell School requires all employees to be fully vaccinated, unless you have a medical or religious exemption.
