W e are hiring a Full-time (35 hours/week) CLINICIAN – VISITATION THERAPIST for Catholic Charities in Buffalo 14212 for the Family Enrichment Program. 35-hour work week 14 paid holidays for full-time 25 PTO days a year for full-time comprehensive health, dental & vision coverage flexible spending accounts no cost Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 403B Retirement plan with employer contributions training and development opportunities The Visitation therapist will provide a secure and nurturing environment for children and parents with a history of separation, neglect, and/or abuse to spend time together and work toward healing from issues that led to the need for supervised access. Must be comfortable holding parents accountable to program rules and be able to balance this with maintaining rapport. The visitation therapist is also able to engage children, keep them physically and emotionally safe during access time and respond appropriately to their needs. Competency Demonstrates skill and knowledge in the areas of divorce, child welfare and high-conflict when working with clients presenting for Therapeutic Supervised Visitation, and Parent/Child Access services; Demonstrates awareness of one's self, needs, feelings, and biases; Critically evaluates own work and integrates feedback from peers and supervisor; Demonstrates commitment to professional development; Demonstrates competency using computers; Customer/Client Interactions Demonstrates ability to engage and develop working relationships with clients. Is respectful, empowering, strength-focused, responsive, empathic, and able to challenge client behaviors needing change (individually and in family/group setting). Communication Accurately completes paperwork including assessments for TSV and PCA cases, progress notes, case summaries, observation forms, court summaries, and closings. Demonstrates appropriate and timely verbal and written communication with supervisor, co-workers, ECDSS case workers, attorneys for children, and other service providers when providing visitation and exchange services. Team Effort/Cooperation Works collaboratively with co-workers; willing to be flexible to the needs of the program; able to team on cases and keep lines of communication open. Provides support and feedback to co-workers; maintains positive, strength-focused perspective in work environment. Attends and constructively participates in staff meetings. Problem Solving/Decision Making Identifies barriers to success with clients and develops alternate solutions (independently and/or with supervisory feedback). Demonstrates ability to assess and intervene with difficult clients to ensure children's and other client's physical and emotional safety. Holds parents accountable to program policies. Seeks out supervision as necessary regarding difficult situations. Quantity of work Conducts PCA and TSV orientations in a timely manner as needed. Takes on PCA and TSV cases as needed. Assists team members and covers cases as able. Balances client service and documentation. Accepts new responsibilities/assignments. Planning/Scheduling Handles multiple responsibilities including cases, documentation, supervision, and case collaboration in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrates awareness of upcoming court dates in order to allow for summaries to be completed as necessary. Timeliness Enter daily activity into agency database and update client information as necessary to ensure compliance with contract goals. Summaries, progress notes, monthly paperwork, and closings completed on time allowing for supervisory input as necessary. EDUCATION: Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional (MSW, LMSW, MHC, LMHC, MFT, LMFT) EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Consistent use of strengths based, trauma-informed care approach Effective assessment and engagement skills with mandated clients SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with children and families Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule including two evenings and one partial weekend day to facilitate visits and in order to participate in agency-related activities/events that may take place outside of typical business hours Proficient in Microsoft Word., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and able to learn agency database As responsibilities may require travel including transporting children, must have appropriate and reliable transportation, and agency-required level of auto insurance coverage and be able to travel as needed within the eight county WNY region.
