This part-time human services counseling position earns a competitive wage . DAY-TO-DAY This part-time counseling position with our human services nonprofit works a flexible schedule . As a part-time Mental Health Counselor - Social Worker in human services, you use your psychology expertise to perform a variety of psychotherapy methods or techniques to assist members experiencing psychological distress. You explain the clinical counseling process and services to members and obtain signatures for consent. In collaboration with the clinical and wellness coordinator, you diagnose, treat, and prevent mental health issues in members. You also review and discuss psychosocial assessment results and various outcome determinations. In addition, you interview members regarding any new or changing medical and mental health conditions that may interfere with their ability to obtain employment. You document participant services and activities in our management information systems as well as ensure HIPAA compliance when performing services or referring clients to additional services. After reviewing current accommodations, you determine whether any changes need to be made or new accommodations need to be added. You enter or scan all appropriate data and coding to ensure member records and payments are complete. As needed, you identify operational issues and facilitate corresponding process improvements. Whether meeting a client for the first time or conducting a recurring session, you continuously provide direction and encouragement to keep them engaged. REQUIREMENTS FOR A MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR - SOCIAL WORKER Any of the following licenses are acceptable : New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) Licensed psychoanalyst Additional qualifications : 5+ years of clinical practice experience, preferably in medically needy and underserved communities Experience working with public assistance recipients, formerly incarcerated individuals, and those affected by the challenges associated with poverty Working knowledge of technology and its application to health and human service delivery systems Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel or other database software Ability to work with diverse groups of people Skilled at behavioral-based interviewing techniques Covid-19 vaccination Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
