Salary Range: $105.1900 - $161.7200 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education. Administers the Radiation Safety Program to ensure compliance with CRC Regulations and Radioactive Materials License conditions. Acts as designated Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), responsible for identifying radiation protection problems; initiating, recommending, or providing corrective actions; verifying implementation of corrective actions; stopping unsafe activities; and ensuring compliance with regulations. Assists all Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Cardiology, and Breast Centers (hospital and outpatient locations), HOI and HOI satellite locations, HUC, Clinic facilities, and NIC locations with radiation safety, documentations, and inspections. Provides nuclear medicine physics support and services to the Radiology Departments and Molecular Therapy and Imaging Center. Manages RML amendment and renewal efforts. Assists Nuclear Medicine and IR radiologists in radioactive iodine ablation, radioligand, and Y-90 microsphere therapies, providing patient radiation safety consultations, dose planning, and radiation safety supervision. Chairs the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC), holding quarterly meetings as required. Administers and reviews the personnel radiation exposure monitoring program, including investigation, notification, in-service education and reporting of findings at quarterly RSC meetings. Implements, reviews, and revises all radiation safety policies, procedures, and protocols as required. Conducts in-service training and prepares online training modules for the safe use of x-rays and radioactive materials. As part of the medical imaging team in CT, Breast Imaging, Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and Interventional Cardiology procedures, assures that the amount of ionizing radiation used is optimized to produce diagnostic quality images. Performs periodic imaging equipment performance evaluations to minimize risk to patients and to ensure that x-ray and other diagnostic imaging equipment meet regulatory compliance standards and are safe to operate. Performs and documents periodic radiation safety and calibration surveys of all CT, Mammography, Radiography and Fluoroscopy equipment, in compliance with radiation safety and regulatory agency requirements. If any violation or weakness of CRC Regulations, RML conditions, or Radiation Protection Program are identified, effective corrective actions are developed, implemented, and documented. Ensures that any medical event or misadministration involving radioactive materials/radiation exposure is thoroughly investigated, documented, and reported to the CDPH/RHB, causes are identified, and timely corrective action is taken. Performs and documents periodic MRI system, SPECT Gamma Camera, and PET scanner performance evaluations. Ensures that licensed radioactive material is transported or offered for transport in accordance with all Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and that licensed radioactive material is disposed of properly and appropriately documented. Establishes and evaluates procedures to ensure that patient radiation exposures are within the generally accepted guidelines established by regulatory agencies and accreditation organizations. Supports ACR & MQSA accreditation efforts. Supports REFCO project management in meeting OSHPD requirements during the design and construction of new x-ray and nuclear medicine facilities. Collaborates with various department directors/senior leadership as appropriate in support of all radiation related matters. Education and Experience Master’s or Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience. Certifications Required ABR (American Board of Radiology) Certified in Diagnostic Radiological Physics.
