HCA Solutions is a BC/BE Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician/Practitioner (MD/DO) to assist with locum tenens coverage at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, VA! Experience working with an acute and chronic adult inpatient population is required. Assignment: Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)Initial Appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3 -6-month assignment, if the position remains unfilledFull-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with 1 hour lunch breakNOT approved for overtimeNo weekends, no holidays, no on-call dutyAbility to provide cross coverage, to include forensic populations, as requiredOnce a month, participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM 1:00 PM)Position Details: Facility Hospitalizations: Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male & female, Co-ED)Facility Demographics: Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populationsFacility Stay: Short and Long-term length of stayCaseload varies by ward and assignment (40-45)Psychiatry coverage is providedFull complement of interdisciplinary team membersResponsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.Monitors patients? progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.Qualifications: 3+ more years as a Physician/Practitioner, preferredExperience working with in-patient (preferred) adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult, forensic and geriatric populations.Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnoverAbility to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment teamBLS Healthcare Provider certification is requiredJob Types: Full-time, Contract Salary: $108,143.30 - $130,237.10 per year Benefits: 401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceHospital specialties: Emergency MedicineHospital MedicinePrimary care specialties: Internal MedicineSchedule: 8 hour shiftDay shiftMonday to FridayApplication Question(s): Do you have experience working with in-patient (preferred) adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult, forensic and geriatric populations?Are you comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover?What is your desired hourly rate?Experience: Physician/Practitioner: 3 years (Preferred)License/Certification: BLS Certification (Preferred)Ability to Relocate: Williamsburg, VA 23188: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
