About WakeMed: Position Information: The Med Lab Scientist I performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. -Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. -Updates knowledge, skills and applies appropriately. -Maintains age-specific and other required competencies. -Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies. -Assists in training new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and evaluates their work. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Works both independently and as part of a team with general supervision/periodic review by supervisory staff. Experience performing moderate complexity testing such as urine microscopy and post-vasectomy sperm count preferred.Experience Requirements: 2 Years Clinical - Clinical Laboratory PreferredEducation Required: Associate's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology Required Bachelor's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology PreferredLicensure/Certification Requirements: American Society for Clinical Pathology Or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification Or Equivalent Education RequirementHours of Work: M-5 8am-5pmWeekend Requirements: No WeekendsCall Requirements: None
