Master Planner/Scheduler

Job Purpose Responsible for planning, updating and monitoring the manufacturing schedule by establishing product shipment dates in coordination with customer expectations, material delivery dates, and manufacturing resources. This position works with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Engineering and Quality to achieve efficient harmonized production, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. Duties and Responsibilities Performs any combination of following tasks to meet the company requirements: Continuously monitor production capacity and load. Create, control and maintain the schedule based on sales orders, forecasts and material availability. Monitor production input and output. Use available system tools (ERP system, advanced planning system, etc.). Adhere to the terms of all customer contracts such as forecast agreements, bonding programs, the window of customer acceptable delivery days early and late, etc. Establish delivery dates. Estimate production time for each order giving consideration to availability of machines, materials, tooling, number of operations involved, manufacturing backlog, order quantity, complexity of product (e.g. box builds), outside operations, previous history, etc. Coordinate raw materials, purchased and manufactured parts and components, and building of sub-assemblies into completion of parent units to meet delivery dates. Monitor availability of major and critical components to ensure schedule attainment. Recommend optimum lot sizes considering production processes and customer demand. Examine the status of each order by reviewing work-in-process, open orders, material status, tooling, past dues and checking with schedulers/administrative assistants and supervisors. Audit work-in-process for potential short yields, order closing, abnormal delays, and progress and initiate corrective actions. Update tracking mechanisms (reports, charts, boards, etc.) Work to maintain minimum inventory levels (WIP) using a JIT approach to control inventory where appropriate while meeting customer requirements. Assist in the development and implementation of new or improved manufacturing and production control systems. Coordinates the modification of ERP parameters, routers, operation times and other inputs to ensure an accurate representation of the actual production process for planning purposes and to further refine "best delivery date" options for the customer within established guidelines. Review Resources / Resource Groups to ensure the ERP system reflects reality. Work with Production Supervisors to maintain, update and train. Monitor labor reporting ("scanning") accuracy. Work with Production Supervisors to achieve and maintain a high level of accuracy. Act as the liaison between Production, Scheduling and Customer Service and advise management of problems and issues impacting delivery performance and / or costs and recommend solutions. Serve as the "conscience" of the manufacturing process. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5 years in a manufacturing environment. Strong MS Office software skills. Strong attention to detail. Above average written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to analyze data and communicate results. Essential Job Functions Attendance at work. Ability to work overtime as needed to meet job demands. Be able to follow work procedures and instructions both written and verbal. Ability to work well with other team members, performing work in a safe manner. Ability to process a large volume of work quickly and accurately. Must possess excellent communication skills.
