As a Buyer you will obtain the best quality, service and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, buying and supplier management. Identifies needs, locates and selects qualified suppliers and manages supply base to achieve our expected quality, on time delivery and cost goals. Summary Obtains the best quality and value for products and services through effective quoting, negotiation, and supplier management. Works closely with Engineering and Internal Customers to Identify needs; then locates and selects qualified suppliers to achieve our expectations of high quality, low cost, and on time delivery. Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Process internal purchase requisitions to support all areas of the Marine Department. Order parts in line with MRP and forecasted demands. Create and Maintain Bills of Material with assistance from Engineering and Sales Groups Monitor inventory usage and take actions to prevent part shortages. Create and maintain purchasing documents, quotes, and supplier records. Communicate and maintain relationships with both suppliers and production team regarding shipments, inventory, and deliveries. Regularly review and report on Past Due List and contact suppliers for updates and recovery plans Create and update weekly inventory reports to advise management on current supply situations and identify any potential future issues Maintains good supplier relationships and develops new potential suppliers through regular meetings and on-site visits. Evaluate quotes and negotiate supplier agreements that result in improvements in suppliers’ cost, delivery, quality, part lead time, and/or payment terms. Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, returns of material, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers. Work to reduce overall Supply Chain Costs and Risks. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Support our Marine Sales, Service, and Engineering teams by providing timely information. Work closely with our Engineering and Operations teams to prepares RFQs Research and Resolve cost related issues with the Accounting Team. Other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications Bachelor`s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management 3 years experience in purchasing catalog, machine parts, castings, fabrications and raw material. Business system experience: working in an ERP environment essential, Epicor knowledge a plus Understanding of the impact of supply chain decisions on manufacturing processes Experience and understanding of Quality systems, such as ISO, PPAP, and FMEA a plus. An ability to read and interpret technical prints and work with engineering in communicating design changes and written deviations to our supply base. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Travel, estimated 10-15% The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel crouch, crawl and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary, such as on supplier sites, or visiting our manufacturing center.
