Safety Sensitive Position Basic purpose of position: Provide complete management oversight for assigned areas of responsibility. Expectation: We expect all Managers to be committed to a high standard of safety, be able to comply with all safety policies/rules and willing to effectively enforce those rules. Individuals performing this function must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. We expect all managers to employ an "out front" approach to management. Managers should spend as much time as practical away from their desk and out in the work areas training associates, monitoring work practices, checking the quality of work and if needed, assisting in the actual completion of work. We want our managers to truly understand the challenges faced daily by their associates; we believe the best way to gain such an understanding is by spending time working alongside your associates, not being adverse to getting your hands dirty, talking with your associates. It is our contention that doing this will enhance your ability to take care of your people and our customer. Responsibilities: Embody the Ethical practices and Core Principles of the Company; Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the scope of duties; included but not limited to hire, fire, promotions or other changes in employee status; Perform work directly related to the management or general business operations of the Company or its customers; Ensuring compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, FRA and DOT regulations; Ensuring compliance with customer and company safety policies and procedures; Investigating accidents and injuries working with the safety specialist to identify the root cause, formulate and implement procedures to prevent a recurrence; Ensuring that all accidents and injuries are promptly reported and properly documented; Setting aggressive safety goals for subordinates; Identifying and correcting unsafe working conditions/practices managers have a principal responsibility of preventing accidents and injuries; Ensuring all subordinates understand and comply with applicable customer and company work instructions, quality procedures and site SOP's; Ensuring associates are properly trained on their jobs work instructions; Ensuring all incidents of customer or company equipment damage are investigated; investigations are properly documented and reported via the company incident reporting system in a timely manner. Ensure appropriate discipline is administered; implement procedures to prevent a recurrence; Continually seek and document methods for improvement in the quality of the services being provided and the efficiency in which those services are conducted; Establishing and maintaining contact with the customer(s) to ensure we are meeting the customers expectations; Managing site performance relative to financial and productivity goals, developing, implementing and monitoring corrective actions where appropriate; Identifying and communicating potential upcoming capital expenditures; Setting and monitoring specific developmental and performance goals for subordinates; Manage staffing and training; Note : Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED. Experience Requirements: Should have 5 or more years of management level experience including P&L responsibility. Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training: Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment. Meet and maintain all requirements contained in the Conditions of Employment policy. Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements: Ability to travel by all forms of commercial conveyance; Ability to frequently work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions; Ability to occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Ability to constantly use bending, twisting, walking motions on uneven surfaces throughout the entire work shift to include crouching for periods of time up to 5 minutes; Ability to lift objects or move objects horizontally. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Ability to meet the physical, mental & sensory requirements of all positions directly supervised; Ability to occasionally stand and walk for periods of time greater than 2 hours; Must be able to hear and communicate work or safety instructions spoken in a normal voice; Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or other equipment; Ability to communicate using various types of equipment as well as view and change data on a standard computer for periods of time greater than 1 hour daily; Must be able to work independently and to simultaneously handle multiple tasks; Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Conditions of Employment: Employment is conditional, based on a medical examination which includes a drug screen, and an examination to verify candidates can safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
