A Day in the Life of: As a member of our team, you will report to the Vice President, Community Engagement and will supervise the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. You will provide leadership for a comprehensive, mature volunteer program certified as a Service Enterprise. Volunteers are highly valued at SOAR365 and play a critical role in making our programs Best in Class. In 2022, 823 volunteers provided 8,932 hours of volunteer service to the organization. Our future Manager, Volunteer Engagement is a strategic thinker with demonstrated experience engaging volunteers as part of achieving an organization's mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership and organizational skills and experience in implementing volunteer recruitment and management best practices. Responsibilities and Duties: In collaboration with Vice President, Community Engagement, develops goals and strategies for Volunteer Engagement Supervises and supports full-time Community Engagement Coordinator. Reports regularly on progress toward goals and objectives Maintains and enhances volunteer policies, handbook, job descriptions, training materials and procedures that reflect best practices and SOAR365 policies Proactively markets SOAR365's volunteer engagement program and establishes strong relationships with individuals, businesses and community organizations to heighten the awareness and reputation of SOAR365 and gain new volunteers Consults and collaborates with SOAR365's staff to understand SOAR365 programs and tidentify potential volunteer opportunities that match capabilities, interests, individual needs, strengths and skills of each volunteer Recruits, provides orientation and training and manages qualified volunteers for a variety of programs, events and tasks at SOAR365 facilities and at other offsite locations Develops and maintains a master volunteer database, which captures special skills and interests, and allows for the creation of reports related to volunteer hours and service information Consistently communicates with volunteers in ways that keeps them actively engaged and invested Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and five years of experience in establishing and managing volunteers and events is required Experience working in a nonprofit organization preferred Volunteer Administration Certification is preferred Proven success in volunteer and event management High degree of professionalism and sound judgment Excellent customer-service orientation, with strong interpersonal skills and pleasant persona Ability to organize and prioritize tasks independently and to work on several projects concurrently A strong team member, who relates well to volunteers, staff and vendors To apply for this position, a completed SOAR365 application is required EO/AA Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories Drug-Free Workplace Reasonable Accommodations If you need reasonable accommodation when you apply for a position on our website, please contact us at (804) 358-XXXX and ask for human resources.
