Position Overview Co-ordinates the decontamination, processing and sterilization of items and supplies required for patient care areas. Manages the Central Service area in a cost-effective and innovative manner, providing direction to staff members. Supervises the day to day activities of the area, maintaining a constant workflow. Works closely with other areas of Materials Management in co-operation with the Director of the Department and the Materials/Distribution Supervisor. Communicates with other areas of the Hospital, including the Operating Room, Emergency, and other patient areas, assisting where necessary in resolving their needs. Experience Formal business and management preparation and/or 3-5 years recent supervisory experience. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12 education. Successful completion of a recognized Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Program. Certification/Licensure/Registration Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the applicable professional association required. Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic practices, and principles and methods of sterilization.
