ROLE OVERVIEW The KIPP Foundation is in its second year of shaping and scaling an exciting venture – KIPP Through College (KTC) External Impact. The KTC External Impact team is designing and implementing an initiative through which KIPP partners with public school districts and charter management organizations across the country to strengthen high school counseling and improve college access and college persistence outcomes by: identifying and codifying best practices and resources for college counseling; sharing those best practices with its partner organizations; consulting with partners to determine how to tailor and apply those best practices in local contexts; and creating learning loops and accountability systems that help the growing community of practice measure and meet critical college counseling and persistence outcomes. As KIPP’s college counseling sharing efforts shift from the pilot year to its second phase, the KTC External Impact team seeks a Manager of KTC External Impact to oversee critical strands of project and portfolio management as this initiative expands. Additionally, this role will support with logistical and operational needs. The Manager of KTC External Impact will report to the Director of KTC External Impact. Key Responsibilities Manage a Portfolio of District Partner Schools (30%) Collaborate with district central office partners, school leaders and counselors Advise and plan with portfolio members to determine the path forward in effectively implementing best counseling and advising practices in local contexts Design and execute learning experiences and professional development that fuel development Roll up learnings, findings, and best practices from the portfolio that inform the team’s broader strategies and actions Provide Coaching and Professional Development Support Ensure partners have the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to track and reach annual goals and measures of success Guide college counselors towards helping students get admitted to best-fit colleges Visit partner schools and district offices as needed to provide coaching and planning support for professional development sessions Keep track of progress as it relates to overall goals, grant requirements and improvement in college application completion and selectivity results Manage Logistics and Operations for Regional Meetings and Projects (30%) Oversee project management, logistics, and operations for the KTC External Impact team’s regional support and to deliver high-quality learning experiences Serve as the team’s point of contact for all internal and external queries and needs as related to logistics, operation, and administration Plan for operations and logistics support at regional site convenings and meetings Set up technology and communication tools for virtual meetings and check-ins Track and analyze the team’s budget and expenses Design and maintain systems that maximize the team’s efficiency and economy of resources Manage expense details for team and district partners, including reimbursements and completing expense reports Complete all required reports from finance, development and insight and analytics teams for analysis and external reporting Input Data and Provide Support with Analysis, Solutions and Future Recommendations for Improving Progress Monitoring (20%) Monitor progress and data for KIPP district partners in partnership with KIPP’s insight and analytics team Improve and maintain the team’s systems to track and analyze performance and path to outcomes Monitor progress with partners throughout the year, keeping a close eye on problem-solving and creative approaches to quickly resolving challenges Directly harvest, and partner with others to analyze, progress-to-goal data across the initiative Communicate partner needs to KTC data and analytics team Serve as a liaison between partners and KIPP Foundation insight and analytics team Identify new ways to continuously improve tools and data support for district partners Contribute to Special Projects (20%) Support or lead special projects across the KIPP Through College team and foundation, as needed Facilitate or provide operations support at convenings and KIPP Foundation events Provide cross-team support with initiatives that combine relevant or similar workstreams COMPETENCIES Flexible and Adaptive Planning and Executing Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Relationship-Building Attention to Detail Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of work experience required Some work in college access or college admissions strongly preferred Some work experience in charter schools, district schools or systems preferred Some work experience and record of success in logistics, operations, and/or project management required Has skill in – and gets energy from – ensuring logistics and operations are well designed and executed so that a team is positioned to thrive Deeply believes in the importance of college as a catalyst for economic mobility and social justice Willingness to travel 30%-40% of the time COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS KIPP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
