Maintenance Technician: Residential Cooperative community located in NW DC, which services 175 apartments, is seeking an energetic individual for the open position of Maintenance Technician.Special skills plaster/drywall repair and painting is a requirement; applicants without need not apply. This individual will be required to perform misc. service tickets for building maintenance and answer directly to the Chief Engineer. Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or other misc. tasks is a plus. Interested candidates will be required to perform preventive maintenance repairs as directed. If prior experience in window sash replacement/repair a plus. Interested candidates will be required to organize and inventory all parts, equipment and work station. Perform outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.Requirements include: High School diploma or GED certificate, ability to utilize tools and equipment as needed and directed, minimum 5 years responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience, good skill in the use of hand and power tools, ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, ability to write simple correspondence and ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the interested candidate is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch., or crawl, and talk/listen.The interested candidate is frequently required to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
