Performs a variety of maintenance trade functions on plant facilities and equipment. Makes adjustments, installs, fabricate, alters, repairs and maintains piping and plumbing systems, machine drives, power conveyors, cranes, motors, pumps, machine tools, carpentry, sheet metal, masonry, welding, mechanical equipment and other structures. May involve difficult installation and accurate alignment duties. Connects, disconnects, cuts openings and installs pipings as required. Draws and develops intricate patterns and forms to fabricate equipment and furnishes other pertinent data for work to be performed. Diagnosis malfunctions, interprets prints, sketches, diagrams, etc., and plans corrective procedure. Designs, lays out, and fabricates special parts and equipment. Makes calculations involving changes in gear ratio and camming. Performs hand fitting operations to obtain precise fits and alignments. Tests and repairs valves, regulators, gas units, etc. Repairs power conveyors, dynamometers, fans, cranes, etc. Makes on-site repairs to hydraulic systems, jigs, fixtures, tooling, etc. Installs rigging to hoist units into position and uses machine tools and equipment applicable to the operation to be performed. Uses all common and precision checking equipment, laser equipment and portable power tools as required. Performs welding, cutting, soldering, forming, bending, joining, and brazing as necessary.
