The Litho Supervisor is to have a specific understanding of Company safety and manufacturing policies, procedures, practices, quality, product safety, and line technology to effectively serve as a leader and resource for all employees to obtain information, seek assistance, and obtain direction in the performance of their job responsibilities.SUBORDINATE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS: * Number of employees supervised: 10-35 * Non/Exempt positions that report to this position:- Hourly production, maintenance, and quality employees.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Implement, train, and enforce company and plant safety programs. * Coach employees competent in skills to perform to the greatest level of their ability and motivate employees to continue to develop skills to next level in succession. Identify employees logical for turnover succession and prepare them with training when opportunities arise. * Analyze performance and capabilities of all employees supervised. Define employee performance requirements and give performance feedback as required. Discuss performance problems with subordinates as needed. Take appropriate disciplinary action as required. * Implement schedule of mandatory training requirements or regulations (i.e., hearing conservations, LO/TO, etc.) and implement Corporate, central, business unit, or department training requirements. Conduct specific job functional training of employees holding positions under their direction. * Analyze mechanical problems in the Litho production process and correct to devise modifications to machines to meet quality standards and schedules. Implement maintenance schedules and assign the workforce to adhere to maintenance plans and effect emergency repairs of production equipment with minimum interruption to operations. Review with maintenance personnel recurring maintenance or repair problems to determine and correct cause and most appropriate time to make repairs, follow-up on the quality of repairs. * Assure the application of standard mechanical methods and procedures to maintain a high level of production efficiency within established standards of quality and cost. * Obtain thorough, clear instructions of daily production plans, ensure schedule is properly communicated to all shift employees, check specifications sheets for accuracy, and insure availability of correct materials, tools, supplies, and repair parts. Visit all production areas to ensure customer material specifications are being met, properly labeled, and packaged for delivery on time. Report any deviations from production schedule to management personnel having a need to know. * Organize shift activity in a manner consistent with requirements established by Plant Controller for reporting production, spoilage, material usage, etc. Anticipate and determine causes for failure to meet schedule and institute necessary correction action. * Maintain plant in neat and orderly condition, free of recognized hazards. Insure first aid training requirements on shift are current, emergency procedures are in place, and employees are fully aware of their surroundings, hazards, inherent in their position, and how to respond in the event of injury or other emergency. Implement all corporate and business unit safety program requirements. * Attend meetings as required, prepare agenda, assign attendees, scribe, etc. * Assist in developing effective method for receiving, handling, and storing of designated inventories. Order all operating supplies and miscellaneous items as needed. * Help develop and maintain department operating budget; review plant cost reports and performances against operating budget, taking such corrective action as necessary to attain budget objectives. * Supervise collection and storage of hazardous waste. Notify the Hazardous Waste Coordinator in the event of a hazardous waste emergency. * Understand Company's Quality philosophy and how to execute all quality control checks correctly.DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:High school diploma. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Understanding of all aspects of metal printing lithography. Computer skills. Oral and written communication skills. Well-rounded background, exposed to various cultures and manufacturing positions. Must have planning and organization skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent field. Management experience in metal printing and coating process, product production, and quality control. Ability to lead and motivate. Knowledge of State, Federal OSHA, and EPA laws.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the general direction of the Department Manager.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working Responsibilities: Ensure that all policies and procedures related to hazard material and waste, including health and safety, are strictly adhered to by all department employees on a daily basis. Provide guidance to departmental employees concerning information about waste streams generated within the department and the hazards associated with waste chemicals. Provide guidance to departmental employees of proper plant routine waste management procedures. Conducts and documents required weekly inspections or ensures the inspection is completed by another fully qualified person. Signage of hazardous waste manifests after reviewing and verifying the accuracy of the document.
