Literacy Director

Description:
The YMCA of Northwest Florida is looking to fill the position of Literacy Director. This individual will be directly responsible for the supervision, coordination, volunteer recruitment, retention and training of YMCA YREADS program at the various school sites throughout Northwest Florida. YREADS is a reading program that uses curriculum-based literacy instruction to help struggling readers in areas of phonetics, sight word recognition, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Individual must possess a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and/or Literacy or related field. Classroom management experience preferred. Experience with implementing the curriculum with school age children. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in education, volunteer development, marketing, public relations, problem solving, and mentoring. Ability to develop, train, and implement quality developmentally appropriate activities. Strong interpersonal skills and team oriented. Able to work in diverse environment.
