A Brief Overview The Lighting Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the replacement of lamps, and various luminary components and lighting systems throughout the campuses and enterprise. Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and clean luminaries, report major damage or malfunctions to the supervisor. The operation and use of ladders, scaffolds, scissor, telescoping lifts and swing stages, are necessary to access luminaries. This job requires working at heights and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. They are experienced with electrical test equipment, hand and power tools. What you will do Uniformed Standards Maintains an identifiable professional attire (uniform) at all times, including using name tags and identification cards. Attends mandatory sessions, meetings, and in-services. Reports any incident that seems unusual deficient to immediate supervisor and/or Security. Corrects and/or reports unsafe unsecured or unclean environment to immediate supervisor and/or Environmental, Health and Safety, and Facilities Department. Always takes breaks away from patient and family areas. Keeps self and work area neat and organized. Participates in staff meetings, committees, projects and teams in a collaborative manner. Is recognized as an "informed" participant by peers and completes assignments on time. Reviews and contributes to the attainment of departmental and institutional goals annually. Participates and contributes to team projects. Responsible for preventive maintenance inspection, troubleshooting, repairing and installation of the following lighting equipment: Troubleshoots and makes repairs to all luminaries as well as their associated controls. Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance to all equipment that pertains to lighting. Repairs or replaces broken luminaries, component and parts such as but not limited to, fuses, starters, starter sockets, bulb holders, cords, plugs, ballasts, fixture wiring, globes, shields, guards, etc. Cleans fixtures Uses hand and power tools as necessary to complete requirements of the job. Operates equipment necessary for accessibility to perform job tasks, for example aerial lift truck, power rolling lift platform, scissor lifts, swing stages, etc. Able to safely set up and work off of ladders and scaffolding. Installs light switches and other lighting control devices. Resets tripped circuit breakers when assigned to do so, as per hospital procedure. Required to work with voltages up to 480/277 volts, three phase. Troubleshoots and replaces TVs and Play stations when assigned to do so. Interacts with customers and venders in ordering materials and supplies. Properly applies Fire Stopping methods as per code. Maintains lamp storage areas keeping them neat and clean. Works with contractors when assigned to do so. Responsible for the performance of the following maintenance and operational responsibilities: Responsible for completing and documenting work requests utilizing the Facilities (CMMS) Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Responsible for understanding, compliance and operation of the CHOP electrical safety program. Performs routine scheduled work and responds to lighting requests and emergencies. Maintains lift equipment, scaffolding, swing stages, fall protection equipment. Prepares requisitions to obtain necessary replacement bulbs and all associated supplies. Assists with zone mechanics with regards to lighting needs. Monitors lighting levels and helps schedule group relamping with zone mechanics and hospital staff. Replaces stained or damaged ceiling tiles immediately around lighting fixtures and modifies ceiling tiles to accept fixtures. Replaces existing and installs new luminaries. General maintenance duties outside of regular responsibilities as directed and necessary within individual qualifications, for example, snow team, water intrusion response, fire safety, etc. Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED - Required Technical Diploma in Electrical or Building Maintenance - Required Experience Qualifications At least two (2) years experience working in the lighting maintenance, in an institutional or industrial setting, using personnel lift equipment - Required Hospital experience - Preferred Skills and Abilities Experience with CMMS software, email and windows applications. Ability to read prints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings. Working knowledge of NFPA 70 NEC, as it applies to lighting equipment and installations.
