Description:
Key Responsibilities: Safety of swimmers and pool facility. Description of Duties: Monitor pool-related activities closely throughout shift, identify any safety issues, and performance of life saving procedures per training. Open and close the pool depending on schedule, hours, and conditions: Chemical testing and logging of results per required standards. Setup and breakdown of furniture and mobile lifeguard stations. Coordination with Recreation Department staff on when facility is ready to open and close for the day. Pick up trash or debris and on pool deck or in water and properly dispose. Perform any applicable Emergency Action Plans if necessary due to weather, pool chemical levels, or other conditions. Work with other Recreation Department staff to maintain required pool occupancy levels. Administration of swim tests and logging of results. Monitor weather reports closely to ensure safety of guests. Oversee pool parties. Provide swimming lessons and swim team coaching with the assistance of Lead Lifeguards. Maintain a clean environment in and around the pool: Vacuuming of pool. Skimming of debris off surface. Provide other assistance to patrons when appropriate or necessary. Requirements: American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or other equivalent certification from a qualified agency. Must include First Aid and CPR certifications. Ability to pass pre-employment practical skills test in the water. Experience teaching swim lessons or coaching swim team highly desirable Flexible schedule required. KRA (Key Results Areas): Safe and clean pool environment. Detailed and accurate logging of daily chemical tests. Safety of pool patrons and performance of Emergency Action Plans if necessary.
