A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LIFE SKILLS INSTRUCTOR - JOB TRAINER As a Life Skills Instructor - Job Trainer, you are responsible for delivering training and professional development activities to prepare our program participants for employment. You make an effort to build trust and rapport with our participants as you facilitate effective life skills, wellness work, and employer-based training. You deliver monthly professional development training for staff on topics including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), work habits, professional boundaries, and using SharePoint. You also coordinate presenters from other community agencies to discuss important topics with our participants such as budgeting, tax preparation, nutrition, and parenting. Consulting with vocational evaluation and employment services staff members, you develop a curriculum that meets participant training needs. You prepare materials for each class you manage using handouts, workbooks, web-based resources, and other necessary training tools. You assign daily homework as well as track each participant's progress by completing case notes highlighting topics reviewed, progress toward job readiness, and next steps. You are dedicated to the success of our participants, so you make sure to contact those who miss appointments to help them reschedule. Working with our placement specialists, you organize hiring fairs, industry panels, and practice interview sessions with employers in the area. You also oversee activities and offerings for participants conducting job searches.
