Now through June 2024, Child and Family Focus is offering a $500 sign on bonus*; $250 to be paid on the first check, $250 to be paid on the paycheck following 6 months of employment. *Bonus amounts could be prorated based on number of billable hours worked. Child & Family Focus, Inc. is seeking a Lead Prevention Specialist for their drug and alcohol Prevention Education Program in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Child and Family Focus Inc.’s comprehensive prevention programming will focus on the prevention needs of young people and their family members. Prevention programming is evidence-based and targets protective factors including healthy communication, effective coping skills, and positive interpersonal relationships. The work schedule for this position may vary. Evening and weekend hours may be requested based on caseload and/or training. This position primarily entails in-person services with occasional virtual services. One in-office workday per week is required. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Human Development, or Family Studies fields preferred. A minimum of one year of experience working as a Prevention Specialist or in providing prevention education, health education, or a similar related service. The Lead Prevention Specialist will be responsible for: Delivering evidenced-based, caregiver- and family-focused prevention programs including but not limited to LifeSkills Training (LST) Parents and Strong African American Families (SAAF) to participants in school, community, justice, and office-based settings. Delivering evidenced-based, youth-focused prevention programs including but not limited to LifeSkills Training (LST) (Elementary, Middle, High, and Transitions), The Blues Program, Too Good for Drugs (TGFD), Unity Circle, Girls Circle, and The Council for Boys and Young Men to participants in school, community, justice, and office-based settings when necessary. Delivering evidence-based intervention programs including but not limited to Teen Intervene to at-risk youth in school, community, justice, and office-based settings when necessary. Completing and maintaining all necessary documentation related to programming, including but not limited to attendance sheets and pre- and post-survey data. Developing materials for effective program delivery through Canva and Microsoft PowerPoint. Assisting in outreach and marketing of available programming to schools and community organizations. Actively participating in health and resource fairs, coalition meetings, and other events in the community with the goal of disseminating information about prevention and contributing to the reduction or elimination of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use among young people. Assist in meeting productivity goals to reach identified deliverables set by the Delaware County Department of Human Services, Division of Drug and Alcohol. Maintaining communication and collaboration with Prevention Education Program team members and leadership. Staying up to date on the latest alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs news and trends. Using and implementing the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices - Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, and Empowerment. Assisting the Prevention Education Program Supervisor in: Providing support, guidance, and feedback to current and new prevention staff, particularly in the field/community. Screening, interviewing, and hiring new staff. Identifying and tracking progress towards gaining required and supplemental trainings for prevention staff in accordance with requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP). Measuring, problem-solving, and addressing gaps in required progress towards program goals in accordance with requirements outlined in the contract with Delaware County Department of Human Services, Drug and Alcohol Division. Maintain meeting minutes during team meetings. Working collaboratively on tasks as assigned. Assessing the need for and delegating tasks to staff. Taking lead in the absence of or at the request of the Supervisor. Work Environment: Work in standard office environments as well as community settings to include schools, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, faith-based establishments, community centers, indoor and outdoor community resource fairs, and buildings maintained by other child and family-serving organizations. Availability to facilitate programming for families or other related events up to two evenings per week, not including Friday evenings. Availability to attend prevention education programming, health fairs, or other marketing/outreach events on up to eight weekend days as needed throughout the year. Substantial local travel in personal vehicle or other reliable transportation to offsite locations as required by caseload or training requirements. It may be expected that three to four workdays will require travel.
