A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A LEAD BREWER As a Lead Brewer at our beverage company, you work with other Production Staff in all areas relating to the brewing and flavoring departments. You will spend a great deal of your time on the floor in the brewery making sure the staff are working efficiently and the production process is running smoothly. It will be your responsibility to ensure the quality of raw materials used in the brewing process including performing daily scientific tests to ensure specific qualities necessary for process and the final product. Your excellent project management skills, including the ability to drive innovation and improve processes in tandem with your superior team management skills will be vital to the overall success of the organization. Your methodical and detail orientation should come naturally. Technological, engineering and mechanical skills with brewery equipment is vital to your success in the position. Each day in the position is different. You may provide guided tours to demonstrate production capacity in addition to showcasing the quality of the product to manage maintenance schedules on the brewery tanks, pumps and process equipment to advising leadership on the purchase of new equipment and everything in between. Your fantastic verbal and written communication skills will be a must in addition to computer skills that allow you to develop spreadsheets for reporting and work within the existing system platform. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LEAD BREWER Experience in distilling and/or brewing Experience in beverage production Experience managing a brewery Experience in managing a staff of 3 or more At least 2 years previous experience with quality control record keeping At least 2 years previous demonstrated experience in project management Mechanical or other engineering experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs A degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Microbiology/Food Science is preferred but not required. A certificate or other advanced education in the brewing process would all be a plus! Are you able to effectively prioritize tasks and work independently under tight deadlines?
