Job Summary The Laborer reports to the Foreman/Supervisor to receive daily instructions. The Laborer can expect to fill any Laborer duty including, ground labor, box-man, and hook-man. They may also be assigned to any and all other jobs that would support the crew that he/she/may be qualified to perform. We are hiring in the following cities: Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Flint, Mt Pleasant, and Big Rapids. Job Functions Shoveling, raking, mop/lute, and moving and loading materials Operate equipment as needed as well as assist in maintaining equipment Act as a key contributor to the safety culture by ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures General pavement construction laborers duties and other tasks as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must demonstrate strong teamwork skills Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written communication) with management, staff, and outside entities as well as follow verbal and written instructions in English Safety consciousness Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures strongly preferred Experience, Education and Other Requirements Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Willingness and ability to travel and work overtime, when needed Must possess a valid driver's license Class B CDL preferred Must have history of safe driving record Must pass a criminal background check, routine physical and drug screen Physical Requirements Include: Ability to safely walk long distances, stand for extended periods, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear. Must be able to work in a variety of work environments including, outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as well as in and around mobile equipment, noise, dust, and traffic.
