Knitting Machine Operator (Knitter)

Description:
General description The Knitter is responsible for running circular knitting machines to produce quality products, while maintaining high efficiency and product output. Key responsibilities Operate up to 8 circular knitting machines (with up to 150 feeds per machine) per shift; Keep the assigned knitting machines, creels, tubes, and surrounding area of the machine clean; Creel (as necessary), inspect fabric, doff, clean machines, blow down, and style/design changes (yarn set up and load patterns); Run yarn knots for design and lot changes into the machines; Fix press-offs; Change broken needles; Keep machines and equipment de-slubbed and lint-free; Recognize and correct defects in the cloth produced; Ensure the proper routing of yarn from the creel to the yarn carrier; Communicate with previous and next shift's personnel if shift changes; Produce first quality fabric while maintaining high efficiency; Interact with MHI (Machine Human Interface, i.e. BARCO) systems to monitor all phases of machine output and efficiency; Perform the job safely in accordance with the JHA; Perform general housekeeping duties; Other duties as assigned. Skills required Technical knowledge regarding running circular knitting machines Ability to operate material handling equipment Ability to lift yarn bobbins up to 20 lbs. above your head repeatedly Ability to walk and stand for 12+ hours daily Ability to stoop down and climb ladders Ability to work in a hot and cold environment Excellent eyesight and ability to distinguish patterns, colors, and shades Ability to perform detailed tasks with minimal errors Self-starter mentality and strong work ethic Team player Communication skills Basic computer skills Basic English speaking, writing and reading skills Experience Two years of previous experience operating circular knitting machines preferred Job Posted by ApplicantPro
