Title: Juvenile Probation Officer I/ Community Service OfficerEssential Duties And Responsibilities: * Supervises and monitors assigned caseload to ensure compliance with court order and maintains client files and records consistent with policy and procedure* Arrange residential/non-residential services for clients or assist with referral to said services and verify participation in service* Complete recommendations based on investigation of the circumstances of a case, for court for sentencing and disposition of client* Complete social histories/ preliminary investigation as ordered by the court* Transport juveniles to and from detention and other locations as deemed necessary* Perform office visits, home visits, school visits, curfew checks* Complete all necessary paperwork per TJJD standards, including but not limited to, the MAYSI-2 and case plans* Testify in court proceedings* Maintain verbal and physical control of juveniles in custody* Assist with Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program as directed * Perform drug tests on juveniles* Supervises caseload of juvenile offenders of the misdemeanor or higher, and other cases as assigned* Serves as Community Service Officer and assists all clients in securing CSR and oversees projects designated by the CJPO Additional Duty* Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the departmentMinimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science or related field and one (1) year experience in social services, criminal justice or related field. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to become certified Juvenile Probation Officer. Must pass extensive background investigation. Current Texas Driver's License. Maintain auto liability insurance. Must be able to be certified to carry a firearm.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the JPO is required to sit, stand, write, type, bend, walk, lift 20 pounds, drive and physically restrain youth as set out in the restraint section of the policy and procedures manual. Working Conditions: Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, fragrances and body odors. Professional dress is required. No jeans will be allowed in court. If employee chooses to be certified to carry, must be able to qualify with weapon yearly. Must maintain TJJD certification and education requirement.Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including on-call status as scheduled for increments of one week which entails availability 24 hours a day, transport of juveniles before, during and after business hours, training after, before or during business hours, or any other times as needed.Hill County is an Equal Opportunity Employer recblid vodz2pbae2r0cbh4gq5ty2nmzgquk5
