Job Description: The Systems Engineer will be an embedded team member working with Rite-Solutions' software developers. The candidate will perform systems engineering activities to ensure the successful delivery of critical combat systems software. The candidate will also apply their engineering experience and schooling to large, cutting-edge undersea Naval combat systems. Support includes, but is not limited to, modeling and maintaining requirements and test procedures, writing use cases, modeling use cases and use case specifications, modeling external and internal interfaces, modeling system structure and behaviors, and managing systems engineering CDRLs (design documents, test procedures, requirements traceability matrices). The candidate should have a basic understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and deliverables associated with each lifecycle stage. It is a plus if the candidate has experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and building Systems Modeling Language (SysML) diagrams. A sound understanding of systems engineering practices and a general understanding of how to apply systems thinking to projects is a must. The ideal candidate has schooling, and preferably experience, in requirements engineering, updating diagrams and documentation as software design changes occur, maintaining requirements traceability to diagrams, documents, and test procedures, and managing and updating systems engineering processes within software development teams. The candidate will also work closely with software developers in an Agile software development environment, so experience working in an Agile software development environment and knowledge of Agile tools (e.g., Jira and Confluence) is a plus. Duties and Responsibilities: Work with Rite-Solutions' MBSE Center of Excellence to get trained on MBSE Maintain requirements and tests models as new software features are introduced Work with teammates to update use case, activity, sequence, and state machine diagrams Work with teammates in understanding how to read and use system models Model software services, external interfaces, internal interfaces, and data structures Participate in Requirements, Design, and Architecture working groups Comfortably work with dispersed teams and government stakeholders, outside of the company Create process diagrams and continuously implement MBSE into software teams Generate systems engineering CDRLs from a model Execute pilot projects collecting metrics that quantify the benefits of MBSE Requirements/Skills: 1-4 years of applicable industry experience. 2 years experience may be supplemented with a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering, or a related technical field A Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, or a related technical field Working knowledge of systems development lifecycles (V, Waterfall, Agile) Excellent communication and presentation skills Position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; active clearance is preferable Additional Skills of Interest (not required): Experience building all 9 SysML diagrams Experience implementing MBSE on new and legacy systems Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or other comparable system modeling tool OCSMP certification INCOSE Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence We are looking for talented individuals to join our team of Friends Enjoying Work!
