Ponte Bros Contracting Ltd. located at 6770 Cariboo Road, Burnaby, British Columbia, V3N 4A4, are hiring Journeyman Level Pipelayers and Level 4 Apprentice Pipelayers. Journeyman Level Our pipelayers install, service and repair water lines, sewer lines, water meters, and manholes. Detailed job duties are as follows:1. Prepare pipe using pick, steel brush, and spray gun;2. Clean precipitates such as catch basin and grit chamber using shovel, rake, and hand pump;3. Calculate toque based on water pressure and type of fitting, and set wrench accordingly, to ensure connections are bolted at the correct pressure;4. Use lasers and survey transits to ensure sewer pipes are laid on correct grade;5. Correctly apply lube and tape to pipes and valves to ensure there are no leaks;6. Connect pipes to water meters;7. Close and re-open pipe systems to isolate and repair broken lines;8. Use pumps to divert flow in sewer pipes in order to carry out repairs;9. Grout pipes and manholes;10. backss water pressure around manholes in order to prevent and fix leaks;11. Use specialized tapping tools to tap into and connect to live pressurized pipe systems;12. Open and close gates and valves according to gates readings or warning lights on equipment;13. Assist in carrying and laying of feeder pipes;14. Load and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto and from trucks by hand;15. Cut brush and clear ground around pipe;16. Assist foremen to supervise, instruct and direct apprentice level pipelayers. Additional details: Full-time, permanent position Unionized position (Li UNA local 1611)Wage: $38.98/hour with annual increases per collective agreement. Union benefits as per collective agreement including Pension benefits and medical and dental insurance Vacation paid at 13% of gross earnings per union contract.
