POSITION OVERVIEW The Instructor/Writer shall instruct, prepare, review, provide curriculum development support, and update program documentation in support of the medical simulation training program in the Obstetrics field. Provides expertise in requirements analysis, component selection, risk assessment, design, implementation, integration, test, post-delivery support. Candidate must be capable of attending in person training and become certified by a leading medical manikin manufacturer in all facets of the obstetrics field woman and baby manikins. Prepares and reviews technical documentation; leads and participates in design reviews, teleconferences, meetings, and discussions. Interacts with vendors, contractors, and customers. Travel as required both stateside and overseas. *This position is contingent upon successful contract award. * RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES Provide the capability for external subject matter expertise (SME) support and services from industry and/or academia to audit, edit, and augment the development of advanced or emerging training tools and technologies such as E-Learning/leave behind, on-line, or courseware. Interact with peers, project managers, technical support staff, and other teammates to ensure technical documents' information accuracy. Analyze technical information, create/edit OEM user manuals, end-user training materials, installation guides, and reports, and release technical artifacts, and SOPs. Review, develop, plan, and provide properly formatted electronic and physical documents. Ensure accuracy, completeness, flow, balance, and clarity of understanding of curriculum. Review and modify all lessons, material, labs, and instruction to ensure it imparts the maximum amount of value in the minimum amount of time from the results of the student critiques. Demonstrate and present modified or new courseware to staff, cadre, or students, as required. Coordinate all course or modules changes to ensure compliance with requirements. Work with customer / end user personnel to incorporate new material developed by SMEs into current or new courseware. Coordinate all course or modules changes to ensure compliance with requirements. Travel required (Up to 40%) to both State side and Overseas locations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Possess 7 years or more experience teaching and developing training for complex subjects such as medical systems, training devices, or ideally medical simulation and manikin training devices. A bachelor's degree in the medical field with experience in Obstetrics can be utilized as a substitute for some of the years of teaching experience, with at least 4 years of experience teaching/instructing. 3+ years of technical writing experience Web-based and classroom training experience Demonstrated experience with counseling students to improve their course knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Have a working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Spreadsheets, etc. Advanced presentation speaking skills (e.g., tailoring content and delivery for different audiences, presenting confidently to large or small groups, and using more creative approaches to presenting). Be computer literate. Be able to pass a Private Trust background check and protect HIPAA and PII information. PREFERRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE Experience in US Army or DHA instruction / training as an instructor Possess Obstetrics medical training knowledge and have trained/instructed others in that subject matter. Previous work history with any of the Training and Instrumentation systems under the PEO STRI umbrella A Department of Defense Clearance is not required for this role but would benefit future positions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally and walk short distances. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
