Jail Commander This position is a full-time management position, Civil Service exempt, FLSA exempt and not represented by a bargaining unit. Salary : $7,180 - $9,126 per month with additional incentive pay available for certain DPSST certifications. Appointment in range at hire will be negotiable. Duties : Ensure the professional performance and administration of the Columbia County Jail. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Columbia County Jail. To Qualify : Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field. At least 5 years' progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, with at least one year of supervisory experience. Possession of the Corrections Officer Basic Certificate or higher from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST). Possession of or ability to obtain within one year of hire Advanced DPSST Certification and, within two years of hire, the DPSST management certificate. Current/active equivalent certifications from other states will also be considered.
