In 2017, Cibus Capital launched the Cibus funds, a series of private equity and venture capital vehicles with over USD 1bn AUM created to invest in rapidly growing food supply chain companies. Cibus Capital is currently deploying the latest Cibus Enterprise fund seeking to target mid to late-stage venture companies utilising the latest technology to drive resource efficiency and sustainability across the food & agriculture value chain. We focus on the sectors and technologies with large addressable markets and potential opportunities, leveraging deep research and our networks to identify the potentially most attractive companies in each of these sectors. Agrifood Tech provides the potential for unprecedented positive change across resource efficiency, biodiversity, GHG emissions, human health and animal welfare. The Cibus funds are managed by approximately 25 seasoned investment professionals out of its offices in London and Sydney. The Cibus team is supported by a number of reputable senior advisors, who include current or former business executives or entrepreneurs of major international corporations. The venture team currently manages around USD 250m in assets and the portfolio consists of 21 companies that can be found on our website. Refer to www.cibusfund.com for further information about The Cibus funds. Key responsibilities Cibus is looking to hire a Director to support the Venture Capital team across their operations. The role covers the following key areas: • Leading the team on in-depth market research and analysis, becoming an expert within key verticals for Cibus. • Evaluating investment opportunities, preparing investment memos and presenting recommendations to the investment committee. • Leading and coordinating all areas of the due diligence process, negotiating term sheets and deal structures. • Actively managing portfolio companies post-investment in all areas, through board or board observer positions. • Managing relationships with co-investors, limited partners, and other key stakeholders. • Actively monitoring industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscape to identify emerging investment themes and opportunities. • Contributing to the overall brand and reputation of Cibus through thought leadership, public speaking engagements, and participation in industry events. • Collaborating with other team members within Cibus to share knowledge, best practices, and resources in order to maximise the overall success of the portfolio. Required background / skills • Minimum of 7 years experience with prior venture capital experience of at least 2 years. • Excellent academic credentials, ideally with a background in a STEM subject. • Superior analytical skills, systematic and critical thinking. • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to relay complex ideas in a plain and clear manner. • Ability to integrate quickly into a team. • Self-starter and ability to work independently. • Excellent commercial judgement and ability to employ 80/20 decision making. Compensation The successful candidate will receive competitive compensation and subject to successful completion of a probationary period will be eligible for participation in the carried interest scheme of these new Cibus funds.
