Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you'll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 20, 2024 to August 9, 2024. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished. Iridium is seeking a bright intern to join the Satellite Platform Team and work directly with all subsystems. Their main objective will be to learn how engineers work as a team and accomplish their day-to-day tasks. You will be given specific projects to accomplish during your time here which will be presented and evaluated at the end of the summer.What You'll Do:Assist with satellite platform data analysis.Support satellite anomaly resolution and lessons learned documentation updates (checklists, procedures, etc.)Be responsible for completing one or more projects.Work on satellite data analysis tools.Participate in producing, reviewing, and editing of technical documents involving Iridium Satellite platform subsystems.Skills You'll Obtain:Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projectsCritical thinking and analytical skillsDevelop basic knowledge of the Platform subsystems of the Iridium satellite, which includes systems for Data Handling, Platform Software, Attitude Control, Electrical Power, Thermal Control and Propulsion.Learn how engineers work together as a team and across departments.Learn how to communicate in a technical environment via technical document creation and correspondence.What You'll Need to Succeed:Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanorAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detail and accuracyExperience in software development and basic programming skills.Excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience in MS Word, PPT and Excel Experience & Education Requirements / EEO Things You Must Bring to the Table:Must be a minimum of 16 years of ageMust be able to work in-personKnowledge of scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, etc.US Citizenship requiredIridium is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
