Lundbeck Seattle BioPharmaceuticals (Lu-SBP), located in Bothell, Washington, is the Process Development Center of Excellence for Biologics within the global Lundbeck CMC organization. Since integrating into Lundbeck in October 2019, Lu-SBP has supported commercial launch of Lundbeck’s first biologic product (Vyepti) and advancement of a growing biologics pipeline in collaboration with our Copenhagen-based Process Science & Validation Team. The Lu-SBP team leads and supports the development of new product candidates from cell line development through commercial validation of Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing processes. Internship will run from 6/17/24 through 9/13/24 - prefer local candidates attending local universitites in the greater Seattle, WA area SUMMARY: Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Formulation Development department as a summer intern, participating in state-of-the-art drug product development, including high-throughput formulation development, using fundamental development principles to solve problems as a member of an integrated team in support of the large molecule pipeline. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design and perform experiments to develop a stable protein formulation by optimizing pH, buffer, and excipients Learn to measure protein biophysical properties and stability with light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy techniques and size exclusion chromatography HPLC Collect and analyze data to provide insights on protein biophysical properties and understanding of stability trends Document results in lab notebook, analyzing data and summarizing results in a report and PowerPoint presentation. Communicate and collaborate with team members and other functional areas REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: College students with at least 2 years coursework in life sciences or engineering. Basic understanding of physics, chemistry, and biology Capable of carefully following instructions, hard work, and overcoming challenges Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Completed coursework in chemical engineering, bio engineering, biotechnology, molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences. Some laboratory experience or basic understanding of laboratory principles and techniques TRAVEL: None expected. The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Washington, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $20 to $22/hour.
