We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Rotherham to assist with the appointment of a Interim Head of Communications & Marketing , on a 3-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Responsibilities: Develop a customer focused service that is responsive and flexible with regard to a variety of customer needs and delivered to a high standard. Identify clear objectives for service delivery, including management of risk, and develop and performance manage relevant action plans to ensure effective and efficient implementation backss political pressures and agendas on service delivery and tailor plans/activity accordingly Pursue best practice and value for money within the Service through the establishment of effective systems of target setting, performance management and procurement Initiate, manage and implement major change initiatives in service delivery which may have a significant impact on either customers, employees or systems ensuring effective risk management and review of subsequent outcomes Develop and foster effective relationships with external stakeholders, partners and agencies, representing and promoting the Councils interests with these groups Requirements: Significant experience of the management and planning of communication, marketing, social media and public relations in a large complex public sector organisation Significant experience of supporting senior colleagues in the provision of communications and marketing advice and guidance Experience of regular effective contact with the media and developing a positive image for the council Experience of managing very complex and highly sensitive cases with the media Substantial and successful direct management experience within the specialism of this post, including policy development, corporate/strategic planning and managing change Experience of managing people effectively within a customer focused internal.
