The Pre-Treatment Representative is primarily responsible for determining and communicating the patient's financial responsibilities prior to their treatment by performing the duties outlined below. Completes pre-authorization process timely. Communicates with physicians or other clinical staff for clarification as needed. Reviews pre-treatment forms and patient's account for adherence to Drug Compendia and Medicare policies and communicates any problems to ordering physician. Completes oncologic emergency pre-treatment requests as a priority. Verifies insurance coverage for proposed treatment. Communicates insurance coverage and makes payment arrangements with all patients requiring pre-treatment approval. Communicates problems with insurance coverage and payment arrangements with Accounts Receivable Coordinator as needed. Answers patients' questions regarding pre-approval process. Registers high-end drugs with drug manufacturers. Identifies self-pay or underinsured accounts and communicates with Patient Assistance Representative to determine paperwork needs. Follows up with the appropriate Patient Representative on status of applications. Handles patient assistance when needed. 2-years recent experience working with insurance pre-authorizations in a medical practice setting. Candidate must have excellent computer skills, experience with practice management systems, be able to multi-task and have great people skills.
