What's the Role? The Shell Houston Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) is in Texas, Galena Park, USA. HLP is the world's largest Lubricant Blending and Packaging plant and produces branded products such as Pennzoil, Quaker State, Rotella T, Helix, and other Shell branded lubricants. HLP is committed to a world class maintenance and engineering team to meet our overall strategy. Shell is seeking an Instrument Technician to join us at the Shell Lubricants Plant in Galena Park, TX. The Electrical and Instrument Technician will be responsible for safely performing maintenance on Production Equipment within the facility. This role includes preventative, reactive, routine, and non-routine Maintenance. Essential job duties and functions may include but are not limited toWorking safely and complying with all Company, OSHA and other governmental standardsPerform all functions relative to repairs and improvements in the areas of electrical and instrumentation installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspection, calibration, and maintenance throughout the facility safely and professionally. This includes but is not limited to all electrical, instrumentation, and distributive control equipment, blending control systems, control valves, variable speed drive equipment, meters, production lines, and mix systemsCommunicate with equipment vendors and part suppliers to troubleshoot, order, and improve on equipment and machine design to deliver enhanced equipment performanceResponsible for working closely with equipment vendors to ensure a smooth transition of new equipment and equipment upgrades to the site. Help ensure all aspects of compliance are being met in the areas of safety and quality on site equipmentActively participate in the design and documentation of improvements for line changeovers, operations and maintenanceCoordinate maintenance activities with other members of the maintenance team, site leadership and customersDemonstrate a commitment to knowledge sharing and learning culture within the team What we need from you Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer Minimum of 3 years' experience in high-speed packaging or manufacturing environment preferredMinimum of 3 years' experience with troubleshooting and programming PLCs, Allen-Bradley preferredMinimum of 3 years' experience with Emerson or ABB DCS and Emerson Delta V control systems preferred Minimum of 3 years' experience with motor controls, including across the line contactors, VFDs and soft starters preferredKnowledgeable in instrumentation, including control valves, level, temperature, pressure, and flow meters preferredMinimum of 3 years' experience with relay logic preferredFamiliarity with pneumatic controls preferredFamiliarity with industrial communications protocols, including Hart, Profibus and Ethernet preferredMust have minimum 3 years of experience in troubleshooting and/or repairing high voltage circuits (up to 480v),Must have minimum 3 years of experience in interpreting JIC & DIN electrical schematics, ANSI electronic schematics, P&ID's, loop diagrams, electrical "single lines", and logic documentationMust have minimum 3 years of experience in analyzing to find solutions to difficult technical problems. Technician should be able to call upon previous experience, documented procedures and practices or manufacturer literature to resolve issuesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and direction. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
