The base hourly rate for this position is $30.15 Johns Manville is currently hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at our Penbryn, NJ plant. We are searching for individuals who are dependable, responsible, and quality-minded who have a history of working safely in a manufacturing environment. This role will conduct effective problem solving and troubleshooting processes to develop corrective actions to repair and maintain all electrical, mechanical, and facility related functions, equipment, systems, buildings and/or physical structures in a manner that allows the plant to operate effectively and efficiently, working from general instructions from the plant management team, and all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor under supervision of the Plant Engineer. What You Bring to the Team: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 1+ years of verified experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly. Computer skills (Microsoft Office). Experience with machine safety. Experience with lockout/tagout. Lift truck operations, JLG, etc. and the ability to obtain a license to operate. Your Day to Day: Be an active participant in the safety process and practice safe work habits at all times. With assistance of Mechanic A's, perform mechanical preventative maintenance according to an established schedule on all equipment. Inspect machinery, lubricate and make adjustments or repairs as needed and take faulty equipment out of operation until repaired. With assistance of Mechanic A's, effectively troubleshoot all mechanical equipment to identify issues and take necessary corrective actions to repair, replace or rebuild. Maintain an open and candid working relationship with coworkers from all departments and immediate supervisor/manager. Perform other job functions as requested to support the effective and efficient operation of the plant, including duties of other classifications. Read, interpret and follow blueprints and sketches, making all measurements and calculations necessary to complete the job. Make out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and perform other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. With assistance of Mechanic A's, inspects/maintains plant buildings and maybe required to cast concrete forms and bollards as needed. With assistance of Mechanic A's, operate, maintain, inspect, lubricate and repair all plant systems as required. Familiar with maintenance management software systems with light keyboarding skills to post time, materials, comments and feedback on work orders. To initiate or create reactive work orders for urgent type of work which arises on a shift. With assistance of Mechanic A's, reads, interprets and follows complex blueprints, diagrams, and sketches, making all measurements and calculations necessary to complete job. May operate mobile equipment. During cleanouts and emergencies, will work with Maintenance A employees, performing any duties to get equipment back into operations in minimum time. Makes out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. Must maintain the necessary tools for above classification where required and be proficient in their use and care. Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs. Wear all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask, or respirator. Complete monthly CBTs or other training as required. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly at all times. Complete all necessary training assignments. Complete SAP data entry. Performs other related duties as directed including duties of lower classification. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Language Skills Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, straightforward written or verbal instructions. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and communicate accurately with coworkers. The employee will frequently engage in repetitive motions. The employee must frequently, lift, push or pull 50 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. The manufacturing process involves toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, gloves, head protection and in certain areas may be required to where dust masks or respirators.
