Responsibilities *Required: Journeyman Electrician with certificate of completion from recognized apprenticeship program Scope of Work Performs and manages production of pre-manufactured electrical assemblies, alterations, additions, of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry in a manufacturing environment. Some examples include underground duct bank skids, modular electrical room equipment skids, overhead conduit racks, modular room kits and assemblies, power walls, and lighting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision and Team Management: As a lead fabricator, one of your primary responsibilities is to supervise and manage a team of electrical fabricators. This includes providing guidance, instructions, and support to ensure the successful completion of fabrication projects. You may assign tasks, assign tasks as planned by Innovation PM, reallocate resources as needed, and monitor progress to meet deadlines. Fabrication Planning and Coordination: Lead fabricators are responsible for planning and coordinating fabrication activities. This involves reviewing project requirements, blueprints, and specifications to determine the materials, tools, and equipment needed for each project. You may collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to ensure accurate and efficient fabrication processes. Fabrication Execution: Lead fabricators are leaders of the manufacturing process but may require hands-on involvement in the fabrication process. You will lead by example, demonstrating expertise and proficiency in various fabrication techniques. This may include planning, bending, welding, assembling, and finishing materials. Quality Assurance: Ensuring the quality of fabricated products is an essential responsibility of a lead fabricator. You will inspect completed work to verify it meets the required standards, specifications, and tolerances. This may involve using construction technology, precision measuring instruments and conducting tests or certifications, as necessary. Material and Resource Management: Lead fabricators are responsible for managing the availability and utilization of materials and resources. This includes maintaining an inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment needed for fabrication projects. You may coordinate with the warehouse coordinator or purchasing departments to ensure timely procurement and proper storage of materials. Safety and Compliance: Lead fabricators champion Gaylor's safety culture in the fabrication environment. You will enforce and promote adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and equipment. You may conduct safety training sessions and implement safety improvement initiatives to minimize workplace hazards. Troubleshooting and Problem-solving: Fabrication projects often encounter challenges or issues that require problem-solving skills. As a lead fabricator, you will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical problems or obstacles that arise during the fabrication process. This may involve collaborating with the team, engineers, or designers to find effective solutions. Documentation and Reporting: Lead fabricators maintain accurate records and documentation related to fabrication projects. This includes creating and updating fabrication logs, work orders, project reports, and any other relevant documentation. You may also provide progress reports to management and communicate project status and challenges effectively. Continuous Improvement: Lead fabricators actively seek opportunities to improve fabrication processes, efficiency, and quality. This involves identifying areas for improvement, suggesting process enhancements, and implementing best practices. You may lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows and achieve better results. Training and Development: As a lead fabricator, you will be responsible for training and mentoring members of the manufacturing team. This includes sharing knowledge, demonstrating techniques, and providing constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and knowledge in fabrication. Qualifications License Requirement: Only in states and locales where required.
